Ragsdale Accepts GSW Faculty Athletic Representative Position

AMERICUS, Ga. - Georgia Southwestern State University Athletic Director Mike Leeder has announced Michele Ragsdale as the faculty athletic representative for the 2017-18 school year.

"As a previous college athlete I understand the rigors and the importance of faculty support," Ragsdale said. "When Coach Leeder approached me about the position, there was not a doubt that I wanted to serve the university and our athletes."

Ragsdale, a lecturer in the school of nursing, received her BSN from Georgia Southwestern while playing for the women's basketball team. She earned her MSN from Albany State University and is currently pursuing an EdD in nursing education from the University of West Georgia.

"We would like to thank Michele for agreeing to become a part of our athletic department as she assumes the role of faculty athletic representative," Leeder said. "Her past experience, knowledge and expertise as a student athlete here at GSW will provide a great resource for all of our current student athletes. We have had wonderful faculty athletic representatives, including Dr. Liz Wilson and David Hunter in our 11 years in the NCAA, and we are looking forward to Michele carrying on that tradition."

Ragsdale and her husband, Mike, have two sons, Ryan a police officer, and Reid who will attend Faulkner University in the fall and will play baseball.
