Sports Information Department Adds Oregon Grad

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University athletic department has announced the hiring of Keeler McJunkin as assistant sports information director for the 2017-18 school year.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the staff here at Georgia Southwestern," McJunkin said. "I look forward to being an asset to the athletic department and help Hurricane athletics continue to grow."

McJunkin spent 2016-2017 as media and operations director for Lane United Football Club in Eugene, Ore. Lane United competes in the nationwide Premier Development League, the top level of amateur soccer in the country.

Previously working for 247Sports reporting on Oregon Duck athletics, McJunkin covered the NCAA and Pac-12 Basketball Tournaments, the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Track and Field Trials, the NCAA Track and Field Championships, the NCAA Softball Championships and Oregon football, basketball, baseball, softball and track & field.

"Keeler is a tremendous addition to our staff," Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information and Marketing Keith Michlig said. "He has a strong media background and yet, while much of his previous experience has been on the NCAA Division I level working in larger venues, he's coming here with sincere aspirations of honing his craft and a commitment to develop a well-rounded skill set that will be marketable across the industry."

McJunkin is from Eugene, Ore., where he graduated from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication in 2016 with a B.A. in Journalism.
