GSW Mourns Loss of HOF Member, Former AD

Georgia Southwestern State University Athletics Hall of Fame member and director of athletics emeritus, Dr. Bob C. Clark, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018.

Dr. Clark, 83, served as Georgia Southwestern athletic director from 1978-94 and was president of the Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference over four academic years (1980-81, 1983-84, 1987-88, and 1991-92). He was named GIAC Athletic Director of the Year on two occasions (1989-90, 1993-94). Dr. Clark coached cross country and track at GSW and was the Physical Education Department Chair from 1978-92. In 1996, "Coach Clark" was inducted into the GSW Athletics Hall of Fame.

"The Hurricane family is saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Clark," GSW Director of Athletics Mike Leeder said. "Coach Clark gave 25 years of service to this institution, had an impact on countless student-athletes and continued to support and be an advocate of Hurricane athletics throughout his retirement. Our condolences go out to his family."  

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.
