Statam and Trimble Named Top Performers in December

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Men's basketball player Andre Statam and women's basketball player Mariya Trimble have been named the Georgia Southwestern State University Department of Athletics top performers for the month of December.

Statam, a 6-foot-6 senior from Cape Girardeau, Mo., was the team leader in field goal percentage (58.1) as he averaged 10.2 points per game over the Hurricanes five contests in December. Statam added five rebounds per game and made 5 of 8 (62.5 percent) from long range in the month. 

Trimble, a 5-foot-8 junior from Lithonia, Ga., also led GSW in field goal percentage (66.7) as she averaged 8.8 points per game over the Lady Hurricanes four contests. Her 4.8 rebounds per game was a team high for the month as she averaged 20.5 minutes of playing time. Trimble was a team leader in points (15) and rebounds (7) in a Peach Belt Conference win over UNC Pembroke on Dec. 19.
