GSW Ranks 3rd in the Country in Community Service Hours

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State Athletic Department takes pride in giving their all on the playing field and in the classroom but also strive to give back within their community. In a recent 2018-19 NCAA Division II report developed by Helper Helper, GSW ranks No. 3 in the nation in volunteer hours recorded and has a total of seven teams ranked in the top-10 for service hours recorded this past school year. 

GSW golf finished in first place in the men's division while baseball finished sixth and men's tennis finished in ninth place. 

In the women's division, women's soccer finished in seventh place. Women's basketball and tennis were tied for eighth place while softball finished in ninth place. 

Throughout 6,049 opportunities, NCAA DII student-athletes put in a combined total of 222,114 hours of community service.

During the 2018-2019 school year, student-athletes from 46 states put forth a tremendous effort out in their local communities volunteering. Throughout the year, student-athletes and staff used the Helper Helper app and online portal to coordinate and track their service efforts.

The Helper Helper volunteer management platform benefits organizations of all sizes by tracking and coordinating their service. Helper Helper simplifies the organizational efforts for volunteer coordinators and helps volunteers easily find and schedule events. Helper Helper and the NCAA teamed up to help encourage student-athletes from over 200 schools to make a lasting impact on their communities.
