AMERICUS, Ga. -- Men's soccer player Divin Moke and women's cross country runner Quincy Mayer have been named the Georgia Southwestern State University Department of Athletics top performers for the month of September.
Moke, a junior from Norcross, Ga., led the Hurricanes with four goals over six matches. He scored twice in a 6-2 win over Talladega College on Sept. 25. Moke currently has 11 goals in his GSW career, which ranks third all-time.
Mayer, a junior from Tampa, Fla., led the Lady Hurricanes in both races to open the 2019 season. Her time of 20:20.5 at the Willie Laster Invitational on Sept. 28 was good for third place out of 54 participants, paced GSW to its first team title and ranks as the ninth-fastest 5K time in school history.
GSW coaches nominate athletes and vote for the recipients of the award each month.
