Chatman and Dean Named Top Performers in November

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Women's basketball player Lex Chatman and men's basketball player Jamari Dean have been named the Georgia Southwestern State University Department of Athletics top performers for the month of November.

Chatman, a 5-foot-5 sophomore from Decatur, Ga., averaged 11 points and a team-high 6.2 rebounds through the Lady Hurricanes six games. Chatman was GSW's leading scorer with 21 points in an 80-65 win over Middle Georgia on Nov. 19. She led the team in rebounding for three games and her 11 3-pointers this season are the most on the squad. She recorded her second career double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in an overtime loss at No. 18 Valdosta State on Nov. 29.  

Dean, a 6-foot-6 sophomore from Ellenwood, Ga., helped lead the Hurricanes to a perfect 4-0 start. Dean posted a double-double in all four games and finished the month averaging 17.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per contest. He connected on 59.5 percent of his shot attempts and 76.9 percent of his free throw opportunities while dishing out 3.3 assists per game. Dean was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 18. He currently leads the PBC in rebounding and ranks fourth in field goal percentage.
