MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - For the second-consecutive day the Georgia Southwestern baseball team jumped out to a four-run lead on Barry University. For the second-straight day the Buccaneers rallied to defeat the Hurricanes. On Saturday afternoon at Feinbloom Field, it took 14 innings, but BU eventually defeated GSW, 7-6.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring in the third inning behind two hits and a Barry error. In the fourth, GSW added three runs with three hits, including RBI singles from John Duran and Blane Parker.

GSW starting pitcher Matthew Suggs tossed six scoreless innings before handing things over to the bullpen. Suggs held Barry to three hits while walking five and striking out three.

Barry roughed up GSW relievers in the seventh, rallying for four runs.

Both sides were held scoreless in the eighth, paving the way for an exciting ninth inning. GSW looked to be moving towards its first victory of the season when Parker and Randall Sheffield scored on a Michel Coffey single to center. However, Barry answered the challenge once again, matching GSW with two runs in its half of the inning.

Pitcher Ryan Mosley worked out of trouble in the 10th, 11th and 12th innings for GSW as Barry left the bases loaded in the 10th and 12th while stranding two runners in the 11th.

A walk and back-to-back singles in the 14th gave Barry the win.

Parker finished with four hits for GSW. Duran and Jarrod Taylor added two singles apiece. The Hurricanes stole four bases in the game, but hit into three double plays.

The season-opening series with Barry concludes Sunday at noon.
