AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern baseball team held No. 3 USC Aiken to a season-low four hits for the second-straight game but ended the season with a 5-2 loss on Saturday at Hurricane Stadium.

Southwestern finishes 2013 with a 15-31 overall record and 5-22 mark in the Peach Belt Conference. The Pacers move on to the PBC Tournament at 41-9 overall and 24-6 in conference play. 

USCA entered the weekend batting .348 as a team but was held to a .203 average in the three-game series against GSW.

Nevertheless, the Pacers left town with a sweep of the Hurricanes.

A Tyler Moore single in the opening frame sandwiched between a pair of walks loaded the bases for USCA's Bill Gerstenslager who brought home the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Pacers added a run in the fourth and another in the fifth behind aggressive base running with five stolen bases over the two innings. J.J. Loker singled home a run in the fourth and Moore brought home the run in the fifth with a chopper to the shortstop.

A pair of GSW errors in the seventh paved the way for USCA to open a 4-0 lead and the Pacers pushed across their final run in the eighth when Gerstenslager, who tripled to open the inning, scored on a Ty Barkell sacrifice fly.

It was only fitting that on "Senior Day" it a pair of GSW seniors who made every effort to keep the game going in the ninth inning with back-to-back two-out hits. John Duran singled through the left side of the infield and scored moments later when Randall Sheffield drilled a triple into the left-center field gap. Sheffield scored the Hurricanes final run of the season on a a wild pitch.

Kevin Manos was the lone GSW batter to collect multiple hits in the finale as he went 2-for-3.

For the second-straight game, USCA did not have a multi-hit performer.

GSW senior pitcher Justin Lott (1-3) rounded out his collegiate career with a quality start, going seven innings and holding USCA to three hits. He walked five and struck out four. Fellow senior Bray Bishop tossed the final two frames and surrendered one run on one hit.

USCA starter Ryan Milewski (6-3) kept Hurricane batters in check all afternoon. Milewski threw eight scoreless innings, allowed four hits, did not walk a batter and struck out three. Kevin Gifford pitched the ninth.

In a pregame ceremony, the Hurricanes recognized the eight seniors on their roster: Duran, Sheffield, Lott, Bishop, Blane Parker, Michel Coffey, Chase Young and Frank Ambrosino.
