Bratton Added To Baseball Coaching Staff

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern State University head baseball coach Bryan McLain has announced that Taylor Bratton will be joining his staff as an assistant coach for the 2016-17 academic year.

Bratton comes to GSW from the Medicine Hat Mavericks baseball team, a member of the Western Major Baseball League, Canada's Premier Collegiate Summer League. Bratton was the head coach of the Mavericks for the past year and coached them to a 35-20 record for the season.

The Oakville, Ontario native attended the University of West Alabama where he pitched four seasons for the Tigers. Bratton had a career 3.24 ERA, pitched 275 innings, had 40 starts and recorded 173 strikeouts in his four years on the mound. He ranks third overall for UWA in most innings pitched, games started and strikeouts in a career.

Bratton studied sports management while attending UWA and went on to receive his masters in physical education while serving as a graduate assistant.

Bratton was also a pitching instructor and staff manager for the 18 and under Ontario Royals baseball team from September 2014 to August 2015 and was the bullpen pitcher for the Winnipeg Goldeneyes Baseball Club from June 2014 to May 2015.

During his coaching career Bratton has coached two players who have moved on to play in independent baseball leagues.
