Hall Delivers 10th Inning Walk-Off Single On Super Bowl Sunday

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern senior outfielder Diamyn Hall delivered a one-out, bases loaded, walk-off single in the 10th inning Sunday afternoon to give the Hurricanes a 3-2 win over Mars Hill University at Hurricane Stadium.

GSW improved to 2-1 this spring after taking the three-game series against the Lions. Mars Hill dropped to 2-2.

The Hurricanes were held to four hits, two of which were solo home runs, before entering the extra frame.

Senior Zach Barron opened the scoring with a home run to left center field in the second inning.

Mars Hill tied the game in the sixth after taking advantage of a pair of walks. The Lions pulled ahead in the eighth with a two-hit inning.

Sophomore Clay Patrick led off the bottom half of the eighth with a solo blast to center field for his first collegiate home run.

From there the GSW bullpen shut down the Lions until singles by Evan Alderman and Dakota long set up Hall's heroics in the 10th.

GSW matched Mars Hill with seven hits in the game. Neither side had an individual finish with multiple hits.

Hurricanes starter Kyle Spinks threw six innings, was charged with one unearned run, scattered three hits, walked three and struck out six over 85 pitches. Lawson Stewart, who last pitched Feb. 23, 2015, due to injury, covered three innings, allowed one run, walked one and struck out one. Mitch Holloway (1-0) earned the win after keeping Mars Hill off the board in the 10th.

Mars Hill used six pitchers. Starter Troy Hall logged the most time as he threw four innings and allowed one run, the solo shot by Barron. Blaine Farrell (1-1) surrendered the final run after pitching 2/3 of an inning.

GSW returns to the diamond on Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan.
