ALBANY, Ga. -- Every time the Georgia Southwestern State University baseball team scored Wednesday evening, Albany State University had an answer in a 6-5 loss at the ASU West Campus Field.

How It Happened: Jason Baita opened the game with a single and later scored on an Andy Moore single to right field to give GSW an early 1-0 lead.

Albany State answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning.

Dakota Long brought home Tyler Skelton with a sacrifice fly in the second.

Albany State answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and delivered a run in the third with two hits and a walk to take its first lead of the evening.

GSW erupted for five hits and three runs in the fourth, which included consecutive RBI singles from the trio of Josh Logan, Jared Jones and Moore to take a 5-3 lead.

Once again, Albany State answered in the bottom half of the inning. The Golden Rams benefited from four walks and an error to go back out front, 6-5.

From the fifth inning on both sides were held scoreless by solid relief pitching.

GSW starting pitcher Stewart Tyler (0-4) tossed 3 2/3 innings, was charged with three earned runs, walked four and struck out three. Jared Donalson walked a pair and struck out three over his 2 1/3 scoreless innings on the hill. A.J. Hayes and Dakota Jackman took an inning apiece to close out the game. Jackman fanned two.

GSW holds a 16-8 edge in the series during that time, although Albany State has won three of the last four contests.

Who Stood Out: Jones went 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI to record his third three-hit game of the spring. Moore added two hits and a pair of RBIs. Baita and Logan collected two hits apiece and both scored a run. GSW out-hit Albany State 12-8.
