Six Hurricanes Named To PBC All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern baseball team placed six student-athletes on the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Baseball All-Academic Team in a release announced Tuesday by the league. 

Junior Tucker Smith leads the Hurricanes with a 3.945 grade point average. Smith is a Human Resource Management major who is from Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Jamison Wilks, the sophomore Management major from Paulding County, Ga., holds a 3.80 GPA followed by Jacob Harrell from Rome, Ga., who holds a 3.608 GPA while majoring in Math with a Teaching Certificate. 

Stewart Tyler is the lone senior from Cordele, Ga., who holds a 3.512 GPA and is majoring in Health and Physical Education. Sophomores Jared Donalson and Hayden Martin caps the team for GSW. Donalson is from Albany, Ga., and is an Exercise Science major who holds a 3.478 GPA while Martin, who's a Management major from Woodstock, Ga., holds a 3.333 GPA.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
