Smith Tabbed PBC Pitcher Of The Year

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Georgia Southwestern State University junior Tucker Smith was named Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year at the league's annual baseball awards banquet Thursday evening.

In addition, Smith became GSW's first All-Conference First Team selection. He is the first in program history to win any of the Peach Belt's major awards.

The junior from Fort Walton Beach, Fla., has 16 starts this season which is tied for second-most in NCAA Division II. He leads the Peach Belt in complete games and is tied for the league lead in wins. Smith is 8-3 on the season with a 2.12 ERA in 106 innings of work with 83 strikeouts. He leads the PBC in ERA and innings and is fourth in strikeouts. His five complete games, three in league play, is more than double any other PBC pitcher and tied for fifth-most in Division II.

Tucker is also ranked 12th in DII with a 0.92 WHIP average.
