Hurricanes Defeat Young Harris in Final Regular Season Series

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern baseball team defeated Young Harris College in their final regular-season series this season. The Hurricanes took the first two games of the series, earning a seven-inning run-rule victory over the Mountain Lions to begin the weekend. Jared Donalson continued his stellar season allowing zero earned runs pitching the full seven innings allowing just four hits. Miles Hartsfield and Tyler Skelton led the team offensively, Miles Hartsfield had a double and triple in the game scoring three of GSW's 11 runs. Tyler Skelton drove in three runs on three hits to lead GSW to the 11-1 victory to open up the weekend.

In the second game of the series, the Hurricanes came out firing early scoring five runs in the top of the first. Young Harris would manage to get a run in the top of the third with GSW answering with one of their own in the fourth. Neither team would make any noise in the fifth, sixth, and seventh before GSW added one in the eighth. Young Harris would push across two in the top of the ninth but it would not be enough as the Hurricanes took the 7-3 and the series on Saturday afternoon.

The third and final game was a low-scoring pitcher's duel with both starting pitchers coming back out to pitch after a lengthy weather delay to trade scoreless innings back and forth. Carsen Plumadore pitched six innings allowing just three hits and zero runs, Brandt Sundean came in for relief giving up two runs on three innings of work. The offense couldn't push a run across and fell in the final game 2-0. Young Harris was able to avoid the sweep and sit just one spot behind GSW in the Peach Belt Conference standings.

The Hurricanes finish in third place in the regular-season standings, clinching the opportunity to host its first-ever Peach Belt Conference Tournament series next weekend.
