The power of pink
The GSW men's basketball team installed the 2-3 zone defense for the first time this season on Tuesday, and it worked just enough against Clayton State. Southwestern made 10 3-pointers of its own and held Clayton State to 34 percent shooting in the second half as the Hurricanes staved off the Lakers for a 65-61 win in front of a raucous student section at the Storm Dome Wednesday in part with the Pink Zone event for breast cancer awareness.

Francis Marion defended their home turf and won a pair of games against GSW on Saturday evening in Florence, S.C. The Lady Hurricanes fell 112-68 to the No. 17-ranked team in Division 2, and the men were defeated 73-52 in the late game.

A strong second half led the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team to a 70-63 victory over Lander University on Saturday afternoon at the Storm Dome. The Hurricanes shot 64 percent from the floor and 88 percent from the free throw line over the final 20 minutes.
