Armstrong Handles GSW, 79-57

SAVANNAH, Ga. -  A strong first half helped the Armstrong Pirates coast to a 79-57 victory over the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes Monday evening in Alumni Arena.

Armstrong led by five midway through the first half but outscored GSW 24-10 the rest of the way as the Pirates took a commanding 46-27 lead heading into halftime.
Pirate guard Aric Miller scored 17 first-half points and the Pirates shot 50 percent (17-of-34) and committed just one turnover in their dominate first period.
 
In the second half, the Hurricanes couldn't muster enough offense as Southwestern extended their current losing streak to three games.
 
GSW (7-9, 3-6 PBC) has lost six of their last seven conference games, after a 2-0 start to Peach Belt Conference play.
 
Senior forward Matt Shaw led the Hurricanes in scoring with 17 points while 6-foot-10 forward Milos Kleut had a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) for GSW.
 
Miller was the game's high scorer with 22 points as three Pirates finished in double figures for Armstrong (10-5, 6-2 PBC).
 
The Hurricanes are back in action as they travel to North Georgia Thursday for the third outing of their four-game road trip. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
