MORROW - Georgia Southwestern guard Alan Arnett posted his third double-double of the season on Saturday evening in a losing effort as Clayton State defeated GSW, 70-64, in Peach Belt Conference men's basketball action.

Arnett finished with 13 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Hurricanes roller-coaster season continues as the loss drops GSW to 12-13 overall and 8-10 in the PBC. Now on a two-game skid, GSW has had its share of streaks this season, losing four games and five games in row, and in turn posting winning streaks of four games and five games in a row.

Clayton State has won three of its last four games to improve to 13-12 overall and 9-9 in the PBC.

Charles Shedrick scored the first five points of the contest Saturday night to put Clayton State ahead 5-0 less than two minutes in.

GSW answered with an 11-4 run to grab its first lead of the game, 11-9, capped by a pair of Michael Tankersley free throws. An ensuing 9-4 run that ended with a Daryl Davis' layup at the 10:23 mark gave GSW its largest lead of the night at 20-13.

Clayton State quickly pulled within a point at 21-20 and regained the lead moments later when Sirdarius Henry scored with 5:40 remaining until halftime to put the Lakers ahead 26-24.

The final five minutes of the half saw a flurry of scoring, but the score remained close and Clayton State took a 42-36 lead into the break.

It was deja vu at start of the second half as Clayton State scored the first five points of the period. The Laker lead hovered around double digits for most of the second half and Shedrick gave Clayton State its largest lead of the night, 14 points, with his dunk at the 3:45 mark. GSW would get no closer than six down the stretch.

Clayton State's Omari Murray led all scorers with 15 points. Henry added 13 and Shedrick chipped in 11.

Jamon Hawkins connected on 5 of 8 shots and finished with a team-high 14 points for GSW. Davis added 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Matt Shaw scored 12.

The Hurricanes were outrebounded for only the fourth time this season as Clayton State held the advantage, 33-28.

Southwestern travels to Orlando, Fla. on Tuesday to tangle with the University of Central Florida at 7 p.m.
