MBB Open Season in Barton 45 Second Classic

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Led by preseason Peach Belt All-Conference player R.J. Sessions, Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team is opening their season on the road competing in Barton's 45 Second Classic, Nov. 9-10 in Wilson, N.C. Barton College, Augusta University and the University of Mount Olive will be playing in back-to-back doubleheaders. 

On Friday, GSW will play host Barton College for a 7 p.m. tipoff as Augusta and Mount Union will get the doubleheader started at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Hurricanes get the early 11 a.m. game against Mount Olive while Barton and Augusta closes the tournament at 1 p.m. 

The Hurricanes return four seniors including Sessions, who led the team and was 10th in the league in scoring averaging 15.3 points per game last season. GSW returns Andre Statam, who was second in rebounding, Quenten Taylor, who was second in scoring and Devin Watson, who was second on the team with assists. 

GSW was picked fifth in the PBC preseason coaches poll as they averaged 72.9 points, 35.6 rebounds and 12.9 assists per game last season.
