#6 Augusta Holds Off GSW

AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University senior guard Brian Tolefree scored 14 points in a losing effort as No. 6 Augusta University defeated GSW, 66-60, in the Storm Dome on Wednesday evening. Phillip Burwell also scored in double figures (10 points) and added six assists.

Georgia Southwestern drops to 8-7 on the season and 2-5 in Peach Belt Conference play. 

Inside the Storm

  • GSW beat Augusta in both field goals made (26-23) and field goal percentage (45.6-41.1)
  • Augusta made 11 more free throws (14-3) and had 15 more attempts from the charity stripe (22-7)
  • GSW held its largest lead (8-4) with 17:02 remaining in the first half
  • Burwell has scored double digit points in the last seven games
