Canes Move Up Two Slots to Finish Seventh

The GSW golf team matched the top-ranked team in NCAA Division-II, the University of West Florida, on Tuesday with a 5-over 293 in the final round at the State Farm-Laker Collegiate Classic in McDonough.  The 293 tied for third-lowest final round in the 14-team tournament.  Overall, the Hurricanes finished in seventh place with a two-day total of 881.      

In a tournament loaded with nationally ranked teams, GSW finished three strokes ahead of sixth-ranked Valdosta State University.

West Florida won the team title with an even par 864, six strokes ahead of UNC Pembroke (870) and seven shots ahead of Clayton State University (871) and fourth-ranked Georgia College & State University.

Individually for GSW, Michael Harris (76-71-72=219) and Tyler Williams (67-78-74=219) tied for 19th place amongst the 84 golfers in the field.  Adam McKenney (76-79-70=225) moved up 28 slots with his final round 70 and tied for 46th.  Jordan Britt (73-73=146) and Reese Moseley (71-81=152) tied for 52nd and 62nd, respectively.

Williams and Harris finished with the third (14) and fourth (13) most birdies in the tournament.  Harris tied for eighth on par 4 scoring, finishing with a 4.03 average.
