McKenney Finishes Tied for 6th; Canes 9th at AFLAC/Columbus Invite

Senior Adam McKenney's 2-over-par 73 led the GSW golf team to a 14-over-par 298 on Tuesday afternoon in the second round of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational at the Country Club of Columbus.  The Hurricanes finished the two-day tournament with a 592 (+24).  No. 2 USC Aiken won the 17-team field at one-over-par (569).      

In a field loaded with nationally ranked teams - nine of the top 12 in the country according to the latest Golf World/Nike poll, GSW finished the tournament eight strokes ahead of No. 1 West Florida, two strokes ahead of No. 17 Belmont Abbey and a stroke ahead of No. 6 Valdosta State University.

The Hurricanes final team score was lower than two Peach Belt Conference rivals.  The 'Canes were a shot better than No. 12 Clayton State University and 12 shots ahead of UNC Pembroke.

Rounding out the individual performances for GSW, Tyler Williams (75-74--149) and Reese Moseley (74-75--149) tied for 41st, Michael Harris (76-76--152) tied for 58th and Jordan Britt (78-81--159) tied for 80th place amongst the 89 golfers in the field.
