COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team showed improvement in the final day of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational hosted by Columbus State. GSW tied for 12th out of 18 teams.
Anders Olsson started the tournament strong in the first round by matching par at 71. In the second round, Olsson finished with +3 and 74 strokes. In the last round, Olsson finished with +4 scoring 75. He totaled 6 birdies and matched par 35 times over the tournament. Olsson tied for 26th place.
Nicholas Ward began the tournament on Monday with +1, scoring 72. In the second round, Ward was able to score 78, putting him +8 for the day. Ward finished in the third round +2 over par scoring 73. Ward tied for 40th place with +10 for the tournament. He totaled 6 birdies, matched par 36 times, and 8 bogeys during the tournament.
Jordan Baker started in the first round strong with only +1. The second round started well with an eagle. He finished round two with +7. The final round of play Baker finished with a score of +4, 75. Baker finished with +12 in 52nd place.
Fraser Johnston improved his score each round. The first round Johnston found himself +8. After the second round, Johnston had a score of 78, +7. The third round proved to be Johnston's best round scoring 75, +4. Johnston finished in a tie for 68th with a score of +19, 232.
Christopher Campos showed improvement in the second round going 2 under with +5. Campos finished the final round with +8. Campos tied for the 71st place with +20 for the tournament.
Southwestern tied for 12th place with UNC Pembroke who matched GSW each round. GSW finished 47 strokes behind the leader Columbus State.
GSW returns to the course in Destin, Fl. on October 7-8th at the Indian Bayou Classic hosted by North Alabama.
