HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.- The No. 19 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a 302 in Round 2 to sit in ninth out of 20 teams at the 2016 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Regional Championships at Mission Inn Resort on Tuesday.
The Hurricanes are 20 shots behind the tournament leaders No. 4 Lynn who posted a two-round 574. No. 3 West Florida posted a Round 2 score of 295 to drop one spot and sit one stroke behind Lynn with a two-round 575. No. 5 Florida Southern shot four-under par today to move up four spots and sit in third with a two-round 577, while No. 2 St. Leo shot eight-under par today to move up six spots and sit in fourth with a two-round 578.
GSW is second in the Peach Belt teams with Columbus State ahead of them by six strokes. Lander sits seven strokes behind the 'Canes in tenth, USC Aiken is in 14th with a two-round 608, Young Harris is 18th with a two-round 618 and Flagler is in 19th with a two-round 629.
Ethan Chamineak shot three more birdies today and leads GSW with a two-round, two-under par 142 to sit in seventh of 108 golfers. Chamineak has a combined seven birdies for the tournament with one round remaining.
Anders Olsson shot three birdies in Round 2 and is tied for 13th with a two-round 145. Hayes Dupree shot five birdies in Round 2 and posted a tournament low 75 to move up 11 spots and sits tied for 50th.
Nicholas Ward posted a two-round 155 to sit tied for 70th and Fraser Johnston shot a tournament low 83 in Round 2 to sit in 105th.
The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 17-21, at Green Valley Ranch in Denver, Colorado.
The Hurricanes will tee off for the final round on Wednesday starting at 7:30 a.m.
