ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Nicholas Ward and Ethan Chamineak both sit tied for eighth to lead the Georgia Southwestern men's golf team after one round at the Peach Belt Conference Championship on Friday.
The Hurricanes fired a 293 in Round 1 on the par 72, 6,939-yard World Golf Village Slammer & The Squire Course.
GSW is tied for fourth with No. 18 Young Harris and sits five strokes back from the leaders No. 16 USC Aiken who posted a 288. No. 6 Lander sits in second with a 290 and No. 27 Georgia College is third with a 291.
Ward and Chamineak both posted even-par 72's to sit tied for eighth of 55 golfers and sit two strokes behind the leaders.
Vincent Norrman sits tied for 20th with a 74, Alex Wells is one stroke behind Norrman to sit tied for 26th and Tyler Barker is tied for 40th with a 77.
The Hurricanes are back on the links Saturday for Round 2 starting with Barker at 9:14 a.m., Wells 9:22 a.m., Norrman 9:30 a.m., Ward 9:38 a.m. and Chamineak tees off at 9:46 a.m.
