Norrman Leads GSW On First Day At AFLAC/Cougar Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern men's golfer Vincent Norrman followed up an opening round 76 with a 2-under par 69 on Monday to lead the Hurricanes on Day 1 at the 18-team, 90-player AFLAC/Cougar Invitational held at the Country Club of Columbus. GSW closed out the day in 16th place with Norrman tied for 33rd on the individual leaderboard.     

The Hurricanes posted a pair of 297 rounds as a team (594) on the par 71, 6,515-yard course to finish the day 44 strokes behind the leader, host Columbus State (550).  

Florida Tech currently sits in second place (559), followed by Carson-Newman (568), Saint Leo (570) and North Alabama (575).

Nix Duncan is tied for 56th with a 7-over 149 (75-74), while Ryan Cahill shot a 8-over par 150 (72-78) and Oly Brown turned in an 9-over 151 (74-77) to tie for 62nd and 67th, respectively. Elias Birkeland carded a 156 (79-77).

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the first GSW tee time of the final round coming at 8:35 a.m.
