INNISBROOK, Fla. -- Georgia Southwestern State University men's golfer Vincent Norrman made the biggest jump of any competitor in the 75-player Copperhead Championship when he shot a final round 3-under par 68 to climb 20 spots in the individual standings at Innisbrook Resort on Tuesday. Georgia Southwestern closed out the day, and its fall season, in 12th place out of 15 teams. Norrman (214) tied for fifth on the leaderboard, just six strokes off the pace set by John VanDerLaan from Florida Southern College.
GSW (897) posted a final round 301 on the par 71, 7,209-yard Copperhead Course to finish the tournament 40 strokes behind winner Florida Southern (857) and 37 strokes behind runner-up West Florida (860).
Ryan Cahill (77-73-72) wrapped up his fall season with a 1-over par final round to finish tied for 31st. Oly Brown shot 14-over (74-73-79) for the tournament to tie for 46th. Nix Duncan (78-83-82) and Wil Hernandez (75-77-DNP) finished tied for 72nd and 75th, respectively.
VanDerLaan edged Saint Leo's Alberto Castagnara in a playoff for the individual medalist award after both golfers shot 5-under over the three-round event.
The Hurricanes resume competition in February.
