ALBANY, Ga. -- Sophomore Vincent Norrman broke another school record after turning in a 36-hole score of 134 with a 2-under par 70 Tuesday, but the Georgia Southwestern State University golf team came up two shots short of defending its title at the Hurricane Invitational. 

Norrman broke the 36-hole record of 136 previously held by Adam McKenny after his two-round 8-under par effort at the 2008 Coker College Invitational. It was the second time in as many days the GSW golf record book was rewritten by Norrman after breaking the 18-hole record of 65 previously shared by Craig Gibson and Michael Harris on Monday.   

The Hurricanes shot a 12-over par 300 as a team for a two-round score of 582 on the 7,024 yard Par 72 course at Doublegate Country Club. Young Harris put up a 3-over 291 to score 580 in the tournament and clip GSW for the team title. Norrman ran away with individual medalist honors, besting runner-up Nick Woof of Clayton State by six shots (140). David Wallin of Young Harris came in third with a 36-hole total of 143 to finish 1-under par. 

Junior Ryan Cahill carded a 5-over par 77 to finish in a tie for 11th place and Tyler Barker turned in a 3-over 75 that left him in a tie for 16th. Elias Birkeland shot a 6-over 78 to tie for 33rd overall, while Nix Duncan finished with a 7-over 79 to tie for 40th place and round out the scoring for GSW.

Clayton State (583) took third place, while West Georgia (587) and Emmanuel College (595) rounded out the Top 5.
