VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Ryan Cahill shot a 3-under 69 to lead the GSW men's golf team in Round 1 Sunday at the Southeastern Collegiate played at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. The Hurricanes sit in a tie for 10th place after turning in a 2-over par 290 as a team on the 7,363 yard Par 72 course.
In a loaded field featuring 14 nationally ranked teams and the entire Top-10, GSW finished day one ahead of No. 4 Lynn, No. 7 Columbus State, No. 8 Saint Leo and is tied with third-ranked Nova Southeastern.
No. 1 West Florida put up an 11-under 277 to take the lead after the first day. No. 19 Lander is currently second with a 9-under 279 and No. 14 Rollins College is third at 6-under shooting a 282.
Cahill's 3-under round put him in a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard, which is led by West Florida's Chandler Blanchet who shot an 8-under par 64. Conor Richards (Lander), Jorge Garcia (Barry) and Will Woodard (Limestone) are in a three way tie for second place at 6-under par.
Vincent Norrman shot a 1-over par 73 for the Hurricanes, while Nix Duncan and Tyler Barker both turned in 2-over par rounds of 74. Wil Hernandez rounded out the GSW scoring with a 3-over 75.
Up Next: Round 2 of the tournament begins Monday morning with GSW scheduled to tee off at 11:00 a.m.
