EATONTON, Ga. -- The GSW men's golf team shot a 299 in Round 3 Tuesday to finish with a three-round score of 890 and move up a spot to take 12th at the 15-team Bobcat Invitational played at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee. 

The Hurricanes moved past Clayton State in the final round, facing a stacked field for the second consective week with 11 nationally ranked opponents including the top six in the Golfstat NCAA DII rankings.   

No. 14 USC Aiken posted a 289 (846) on the 6,730 yard Par 70 course to hold off a hard charging top-ranked West Florida after a round of 278 to finish second at 848. No. 10 Barry took third (851), while No. 2 Florida Southern (862) finished fourth and No. 4 Nova Southeastern (865) rounded out the top five.

Ryan Cahill shot a 2-over par 72 to lead the Hurricanes and finish 3-over for the tournament, tying for 11th on the individual leaderboard. Vincent Norrman tied for 35th after finishing with a 6-over par 76. Tyler Barker turned in his best round of the tournament with a 3-over 73 to tie for 53rd while Nix Duncan and Wil Hernandez both tallied an 8-over 78 to finish tied for 66th and 72nd respectively.   

Florida Southern's John VanDerLaan won a two-hole playoff with Johnson Holliday of USC Aiken after both were tied at 4-under par with three complete rounds. VanDerLaan parred No. 17 to take home the individual medalist honor.

Up Next: GSW heads to the Bearcat Classic hosted by Lander University at Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C. Rounds 1 & 2 are March 26 with the third and final round on March 27.
