AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University golf team is set to compete at the Peach Belt Conference Championship this week, August 13-15, with a round of 18 holes to be played each day.

The tournament is hosted by Flagler College and will be played in St. Augustine, Fla., at the 6,939 yard Par 72 Slammer & Squire golf course.

GSW is coming off a third place finish at the Bearcat Classic, defeating two nationally-ranked Peach Belt teams in Columbus State and Lander. It was the third Top 5 finish of the season for the Hurricanes.

Golfstat.com currently has four conference teams listed in its NCAA DII poll led by ninth-ranked USC Aiken. Columbus State (No. 11), Lander (No. 18) and Young Harris (No. 19) are all in the Top 20.

Vincent Norrman leads the Hurricanes with a 71.61 stroke average this season and took medalist honors at the Hurricane Invitational in February, while recording four Top 5 finishes this fall/spring. He was named the PBC Golfer of the Week on March 1 after winning the Hurricane Invitational at 10-under par.

Ryan Cahill is second on the team with a 74.48 stroke average, carding five rounds of par or better and finished just outside the Top 10 at three tournaments this season. Tyler Barker is third on the team with a 74.64 stroke average and finished a season-best 1-under par at the Bearcat Classic where he tied for 13th place.

Wil Hernandez is fourth on the team with a 76.17 stroke average and third with four rounds of par or better this season. Nix Duncan holds a 76.92 stroke average and recorded a Top 5 finish at the Anderson University Invitational in the fall. Elias Birkeland rounds out the GSW scoring with a 77.69 stroke average and turned in a Top 10 finish at the Anderson Invitational.

The Hurricanes took fourth place out of 11 teams at the PBC Championships in both 2013 and 2016.
