CONOVER, N.C -- Vincent Norrman fired a 2-under par 69 to lead the Georgia Southwestern State University golf team after Round 1 of the NCAA DII South/Southeast Regional played Monday at Rock Barn Country Club. 

The First Team All-Conference sophomore and Nicklaus Award Semifinalist Norrman is tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard, two shots behind co-leaders Tom Forster (Carson-Newman) and Manuel Torres (Lynn) who sit at 4-under par. Chandler Blanchet (West Florida) is third at 3-under par while Max O'Hagan (Florida Tech) and Cole Cruickshank are tied with Norrman at 2-under.   

The Hurricanes currently sit in 19th place after the first day of competition, firing a 305 (+21) as a team on the 6,940 yard par 71 course. Top-ranked West Florida has the Round 1 lead after shooting a 282 (-2) and is the only team to score under par in a field that features the Top 11 teams in the country according to the GolfStat.com Relative Rankings. 

No. 6 Lynn is in second place with a 284 (E), while No. 5 Barry is third after turning in a 287 (+3). No. 17 Lander is fourth at 292 (+8) as No. 2 Florida Southern and No. 11 Columbus State round out the Top 5 after a 293 (+9).   

Ryan Cahill carded a 6-over 77 to tie for 75th place at the end of the first day while Nix Duncan shot an 8-over 79 to sit in a tie for 89th place. Tyler Barker turned in an 9-over 80 and Wil Hernandez shot a 15-over 86 to sit in 95th and 104th place, respectively.  

Round 2 of the South/Southeast Regional gets underway Tuesday morning from Rock Barn Country Club.
