COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern men's golf player Vincent Norrman finished day one of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational in second place, leading the Hurricanes to a fifth place finish at the par-71, 6,515 yard course at the Country Club of Columbus. 

Norrman carded rounds of 71 and 67, shooting a four-under 138 as he finished tied for second place. Chase McLain shot one-under 141 with rounds of 72 and 69 for a 12th place finish. Simon Estrada (+2) carded rounds of 71 and 73 for a 31st place finish while Saksit Jairak (+3) finished in 38th place, shooting rounds of 72 and 71. Cole Madison finished tied for 76th place with rounds of 75 and 77. Elias Birkeland, who shot as an individual, carded rounds of 72 and 78. 

Throughout two rounds, GSW carded scores of 288 and 280 for an even-par 568 finish, tieing with host No. 21 Columbus State. No. 4 Florida Southern carded a 562 (-6) to take first place to end day one. No. 1 Lynn University (566), Valdosta State (567) and No. 12 St. Leo (567) all rounded out as the top five teams competing. 

Zach Zediker of Delta State finished in first place as he carded rounds of 73 and 62 for a 135 (-7). Six players finished day one tied for second place as they all carded four-under 138. St. Leo's Kevin Johnson, Jordan Doull of Columbus State, Alex Hodge of Carson-Newman, Johnny Tucker of Florida Southern and Carlos Bustos of Lynn University all finished in the same pact. 

GSW will tee off for round 3 of the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational at 9 a.m.
