KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- The No. 2 Georgia Southwestern golf team was crowned tournament champs as they carded a nine-under 275 during round 3 of the Queens Invitational to move up the leaderboard into first place, finishing with a total score of 835 (-17). With scores of 279-281-275=835, the Hurricanes broke the 18-hole, 36-hole and 54-hole program record at the Par-71, 7,024 yard course.
Vincent Norrman shot a round three 70, finishing eight-under 205 as he picked up his third individual win this season. Cole Madison led round 3 for the Hurricanes as he carded a tournament-low 66, finishing tied for ninth place with a 210 (-3) card. Saksit Jairak carded a 70 followed by Chase McLain, who carded a 72 as they finished tied for 13th and 15th place with final cards of 211 (-2) and 212 (-1), respectively. Simon Estrada rounded out GSW with a 69 in round three for a 215 (+2) card to finish tied for 25th place as all five players finished in the top 25.
Norrman won the tiebreaker to beat out USC Aiken's Leo Johansson, who finished with a score of 205 (-8) for a second place finish. Dan Bradbury and Erik Fogel of Lincoln-Memorial finished in third and fourth place with cards of 207 (-6) and 208 (-5), respectively. North Georgia's Tanner Mack closed out the top five individual players as he also carded a 208 (-5) to end tied in fourth place.
No. 18 Lincoln-Memorial finished two swings shy, landing in second place with a total score of 837 (-15) followed by No. 3 USC Aiken, who took home third place with a total score of 841 (-11). No. 38 Newberry (854) and No. 35 Limestone (855) were the top five teams who competed in the Queens Invitational.
GSW closed out their fall 2019 slate with two wins and two top-5 finishes. They will return back to green in 2020 when they compete in the Newberry College Invitational, Feb. 17-18.
