Kiawah Island, S.C. -- Vincent Norrman and Saksit Jairak leads the way as the No. 1 Georgia Southwestern golf team sits in second place to end Day 1 of the Newberry Invitationaal hosted by Newberry College at the Par 72, 6,774 yard Ocean Course. 

Norrman shot a six-under 138 with two rounds of 69 as he currently sits in first place. Jairak shot a day low of 65 during Round 2 followed by a Round 1 score of 75 to sit tied in second place with a four-under 140. Cole Madison carded rounds of 72 and 75 for a 147 (+3) Day 1 card to sit tied in 15th place. Simon Estrada sits tied for 40th with rounds of 73 and 79 followed by Chase McLain, who sits tied for 62nd with rounds of 75 and 84. 

No. 6 Lynn carded rounds of 284 and 292 to stay par 576, leading the pack to end day of the Newberry Invitational. No. 1 GSW sits just one swing shy in second place with opening rounds of 289 and 288 for a 577 (+1) score. Sliding down was No. 13 Columbus State, who shot a 15-over 591 with rounds of 292 and 299. Clayton State and No. 12 Arkansas Tech both sit tied for fourth place, shooting a 17-over 593. 

Following Norrman and Jairak, Ethan Willis of Queens (N.C.) sits tied for second with rounds of 68 and 72. Max O'Hagan of Florida Tech carded rounds of 70 and 71, shooting three-under 141 for fourth place while Carlos Bustos of Lynn sits in fifth place with a one-under 143, with rounds of 70 and 73. 

Round 3 will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning for the Hurricanes.
