VALDOSTA, Ga. -- No. 23 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team won their first tournament of the 2020-2021 season after carding a five-under 859 final score at the Southeastern Collegiate. The Hurricanes shot two-under 286 during Round 3, jumping ahead of top ranked West Florida for the win at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.  

GSW won the Southeastern Collegiate last year with a six-under 858 final score, making it back-to-back titles for the Hurricanes. 

Saksit Jairak carded a 70 during the final round to finish tied for second place with a six-under 210 total score. Chase McLain picked up a top 10 finish as he carded a Round 3 low 68, finishing tied in seventh place with a three-under 213 card while Simon Estrada, who had the sole eagle for GSW, carded a two-under 214 after shooting a 70 during Round 3 to finish tied in 10th. Jack Tharrington finished tied in 40th place with an eight-over 224 followed by Jaxson Daskalos, who finished tied in 59th place after finishing with a 15-over 231 total score. 

No. 1 West Florida took home second place with a one-under 863 final score. No. 5 Lincoln Memorial, No. 12 Barry and No. 13 Lee all finished tied for third place with a one-over 865 final score. 

Lee's Beck Burnette finished first in individuals with a seven-under 209 final card. Barry's A.J. Ewart and Austin Mancilla of Georgia College both finished tied for second place, carding a six-under 210 along with Jairak. GC's Alex Wells carded a five-under 211 to finish in fifth place.

GSW will hit the green March 22-23 as they compete in the Bobcat Invitational played at the Golf Club of Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Ga. It will be hosted by Georgia College.
