PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The No. 11 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted an 18-over-par 306 in Round 2 of the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship at PGA National on Tuesday to drop two spots to fourth place out of 16 teams.
Scores were high throughout the field on Tuesday as The Champion course proved extremely challenging to the 84 golfers. The University of Indianapolis, paired with Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday, was the only school in the field to shoot under par in Round 2 (2-under-par). indianapolis jumped four spots in the standings to take the lead with a total score of 11-over, 16 shots ahead of second place University of West Florida and 18 strokes ahead of the Hurricanes.
Saksit Jairak led the way for GSW in Round 2 with a 3-over-par 75. Jairak moved up 11 spots and is tied for 16th place, six strokes off the lead. Jairak played the front nine 1-under-par.
Chase McLain carded a 76 on Tuesday and joined Jairak at 7-over for the tournament. McLain finished strong as he birdied two of his last five holes. Jack Tharrington is a stroke back of Jairak and McLain in a tie for 21st after shooting a 77 in Round 2. Jaxson Daskalos is tied for 42nd and Simon Estrada shot a 78 to move up to 76th.
The Hurricanes will tee off Wednesday for the final round starting at 11:10 a.m.
The top eight teams after Round 3 will be seeded and advance to match play beginning on Thursday to decide a national champion.
