Hurricanes in Second at Stacked Argonaut Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The ninth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a two-round total of 564 to finish in second place on Monday at the Argonaut Invitational hosted by West Florida. As a team, the Hurricanes finished 12-under on the day. The tournament, which is hosted by West Florida, is being played at Pensacola Country Club and features 17 teams. 

Nine of the 17 teams competing are ranked inside the top 25 of the Golfstat rankings. The ranked teams include No. 2 Lincoln Memorial (7th), No. 5 Lee University (3rd), No. 6 Arkansas Tech (1st), No. 8 Oklahoma Christian (T4), No. 9 GSW (2nd), No. 11 Limestone (T4), No. 14 West Florida (6th), No. 16 Columbus State (10th), No. 22 Henderson State (9th) and No. 23 West Georgia (12th).

Simon Estrada led the Hurricanes with rounds of 69 and 70 for his first two rounds to finish tied for sixth place on Monday. Estrada posted nine birdies and one eagle in his two rounds on Monday shooting 5-under.

Nicolas Escobar finished second on the team in the opening round shooting 67 with a second round of 73 in the afternoon to finish tied for 10th place in the standings. Erik Fogel finished with a second round of 69 on Monday finishing tied for 16th overall. Saksit Jairak finished tied for 31st and shot two-over on Monday. Chase Mclain carded a 70 in the first round finishing the day with a 78 in the second round. Alex Wells playing as an individual finished the day out for the Hurricanes shooting a 73 in the second round finishing tied for 59th place on Monday.  

National No. 6 Arkansas Tech leads the team effort at 19-under par, seven strokes ahead of the Hurricanes. Francois Jacobs of Arkansas Tech is atop the leaderboard at 11-under, one stroke ahead of Nicolas Cabello from Clayton State.
