All Knotted Up

Tigerville, S.C. - Coming off a heartbreaking double overtime loss to Newberry College Thursday afternoon, the GSW men's soccer team fought to a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon against the North Greenville Trojans in Tigerville, S.C.

The game was a tale of 'anything you can do, I can do better' as GSW trailed early in the first half when North Greenville's Todd Johnson scored in the 24th minute. Just one minute later however, the Blue & Gold struck back as a goal by freshman forward Michael Corrigan tied the game. The scored remained tied for the rest of the first half.

In the second half, circumstances flipped as the Canes were first to strike in the 65th minute when Corrigan scored his second goal of the match and GSW took a 2-1 advantage. However that was short lived as two minutes later, NGU's Adam Turner scored to even up the match at two apiece.

2-2 proved to be the final as the score remained knotted throughout the rest of the second half and two overtimes. GSW senior goal keeper Ryan Tucker had a good defensive effort for the Canes with 8 saves.

The Hurricanes are now 0-1-1 on the season and will be back in action this Friday, September 7, as they face Peach Belt Conference foe UNC Pembroke in the team's home opener at 3:30 p.m. at Hurricane Field.
