Hurricanes Drop 2-0 decision to West Alabama

AMERICUS, Ga. - A couple of first half goals for the West Alabama Tigers was too much for GSW to overcome as the Hurricanes succombed to a 2-0 decision Sunday at Hurricane Field.

West Alabama's junior forward Victor Gazza made quick work midway through the first half as it only took him three minutes after entering the game to score the first goal of the match. In the 25th minute, Gazza took a pass from freshman forward Clay Green from the right corner and found the back of the net.

Gazza's work for the day was not finished however as in the 34th minute of the first half he assisted on UWA's second goal of the match as Evan Beutler scored off a Gazza pass to extend the Tiger's first half lead, 2-0.

The score remained tied throughout all of the second half as GSW struggled to get shots off against the Tigers.

Overall, West Alabama outshot the 'Canes 12-5 including holding an 8-1 advantage on SOG. The Tigers also doubled the amount of corner kicks 8-4. Georgia Southwestern's senior goal keeper Cade Jones had a good defensive effort accounting for six saves on the day.

Georgia Southwestern falls to 0-3-1 on the season and will be back in action this Tuesday as the Blue & Gold host Brewton-Parker College at 5 p.m. at Hurricane Field.
