AMERICUS, Ga. - On a wet Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field, the Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team (1-8-1, 0-4 PBC) couldn't recover from a late scoring burst by USC Aiken (3-2-2, 1-2 PBC) as they fell, 3-1 in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Pacers continued a season trend of early goals given up by GSW, as USC Aiken's Mark Hanlan scored off an assist from Jason King just 22 seconds into the match to put Aiken on the board, 1-0.

The Blue & Gold responded with a game tying score in the 40th minute of the first half. Sophomore defender Jon McVaney took a pass from freshman midfielder Charlie Corrigan to score over the outstretched arms of the keeper. The goal was McVaney's first of his GSW career.

After an evenly played second half, two goals in the last 10 minutes of the match proved to be the difference.

The first came in the 81st minute off a throw in as USCA's Schevon Joseph knocked in a goal from the top of the box off a pass from Hanlan.

Two minutes later, the Pacers put the game away as an unassisted goal from Mohammad Fall gave USCA a 3-1 advantage.

That proved to be the final score of the match as the Hurricanes couldn't muster any more offense.

USC Aiken held a 15-6, 12-3 on goal, shots advantage for the game. Sophomore GSW goal keeper Garret Blamire was credited with six saves on the contest.

The Hurricanes return to action next Saturday, Oct. 6, as they take on North Georgia at Hurricane Field in a 3:30 p.m. match.
