Hurricanes Storm the Falcons

AMERICUS - The Hurricanes broke the streak with a big 4-0 win against Florida College Falcons.

Goalkeeper Joe Cullip has set the new record for most shutouts in a season. Alongside Cullip was a unbreakable defensive line including Marcus Diaz, Avery Alderman, Jon McVaney, and Pablo Lajeunesse.

The scoring opportunities started early for the Hurricanes. In the 11th minute of play, Ron Calle had Falcons goalkeeper committed and out of the penalty box. Calle was able to cross and off the ensuing clearance, Brennan Bauschka was able to find the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

On another drive to the goal, Cesar Espinosa was taken down by the Falcons' goalkeeper inside the penalty box. Alderman confidently took the penalty kick, scoring. This was Alderman's first goal of the season and the last goal in the half.

The second half equaled the same intensity from both sides as the first. In the 60th minute of play, Isaac Avila found the back of the net from a rebound off a Zack Pirtle's shot, for his second goal of the season.

The final goal was achieved when Caleb Graves found Calle making a run to the goal. This goal puts Calle in the lead for Hurricane goals, as it was his 3rd of the season.

Florida College goalkeepers Di-Stephano Occil and Ethan Shutt made a total of 5 saves on the day compared to Cullip's 0.

The Hurricanes will be playing at home again on Wednesday, Oct 2nd at 3:30 p.m. to take on Flagler College.
