'Canes Surrender Late Goal In Each Half At Montevallo, Lose 2-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Montevallo University scored a goal late in each half to defeat Georgia Southwestern, 2-0, Wednesday evening in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match at Varsity Field.

GSW falls to 1-8-1 overall, 0-4 in the PBC while Montevallo improved its record to 7-2, 3-2 in conference play.

Riku Manty's free kick from the right side for Montevallo was converted on a header by Austin Petrovich with under two minutes remaining in the first half for the opening score.

Oliver Cylkowski delivered a ground pass in the 85th minute that was met by Liam Moore who steered it into the bottom left corner of the goal for the final score of the evening.

UM finished with a 19-9 shots advantage and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

Joshua Swift made seven saves for GSW and Robert Kuta stopped three for UM.

The Hurricanes return home to host Clayton State on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
