AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head men's soccer coach Warren Russ has released the program's 2017 schedule, which features six home matches, eight road contests and two dates at a neutral site.
GSW holds a combined 12-14-4 all-time record against the nine non-conference opponents on the slate for 2017.
The Blue & Gold open with a pair of first-time meetings against Milligan College (Sept. 1) and Texas A&M-Texarkana (Sept. 3) as part of a four-team showdown on the campus of Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.
The first official road trip of the season comes on Sept. 6, when the Hurricanes travel to Brewton-Parker College.
GSW's home opener is slated for Sept. 9, against Concordia College (Ala.) and three days later Point University comes to Americus.
From there, it's five of six matches on the road. The Hurricanes embark on a three-match road stretch with stops at Faulkner (Sept. 16), Middle Georgia State (Sept. 20) and USC Aiken (Sept. 23) before their final home date of the month, the 27th against Flagler College gets sandwiched between two more road matches, at Spring Hill College (Sept. 30) and Clayton State (Oct. 11).
Reinhardt University makes its visit to GSW's campus in 12 years for a meeting on Oct. 14.
Trips to North Georgia (Oct. 18) and Francis Marion University (Oct. 21) close out the road portion of the Hurricanes regular season schedule.
While the final two matches are at home, Coach Russ & Co. face a pair of the Peach Belt Conference's elite in defending PBC tournament champion Young Harris College (Oct. 25) and last season's PBC regular season champs and NCAA Tournament qualifier, Lander University (Oct. 28) to close out the 2017 campaign.
