Canes Remain Undefeated, Work For Road Draw

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer all-time leading scorer Silvio Polly added to his tally when he delivered the equalizer Wednesday evening at Brewton-Parker College to help the Hurricanes earn a 1-1 draw and stay clean in the loss column, moving to 2-0-1 this season.

Brewton-Parker struck first in the match with its goal in the 33rd minute off a header by Manuel Casonova taken from the cross by Nathan Skaggs. The Barons held on to their 1-0 lead through the halftime break.

Polly evened the score at the 50:54 mark by punching in his second goal of the young season.

The Hurricanes outshot Brewton-Parker, 13-5, in the second half of regulation, but dipped in the overtime sessions, falling behind 8-4. The teams finished even in shots on goal and saves as both keepers turned away eight attempts. GSW held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks and BPC committed seven more fouls (16-9).

GSW halted a two-match losing streak against the Barons and maintained a slim advantage (5-4-1) in the all-time series.

Concordia College (Ala.) comes to Americus on Saturday as GSW plays host for the first time this season in a 3:30 p.m. match at Hurricane Field.
