PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team scored four second-half goals to pull away from Pensacola Christian College, 5-3, on Saturday evening at Eagle Field in the first-ever meeting between the schools. GSW spread the wealth offensively as five different players accounted for the five scores, combining for the most goals scored in a match by the Hurricanes since Oct. 7, 2009.

Trailing 1-0 in the first half, Divin Moke delivered GSW's first goal, and his first score of the season, in the 36th minute off an assist from Matheus Alves. The teams went into the break tied, 1-1.

Pensacola Christian regained the lead early in the second half with a goal from Riley Buchalski in the 51st minute, his first of the season. The Hurricanes answered with two consecutive scores. Dylan Marshall delivered the equalizer when he muscled his way to a loose ball and beat the Pensacola Christian goalkeeper in the 58th minute for his second goal of the season. Jonathan Sayers gave the Hurricanes their first lead of the evening in the 78th minute when he tracked down a pass towards the left corner from Alves and rifled a shot inside the right post for his first goal of the fall.

Following an impressive bicycle kick from Pensacola Christian's Kendall Mullenix that evened the match at 3-3, Alves upped his team-leading goal total to four when he converted a penalty kick for the Hurricanes in the 82nd minute after Chris Avery was taken down inside the 18-yard box closing in on a loose ball. Thiago Elias delivered the dagger in the 88th minute, his first goal of the season, off a feed to the middle from Sayers.

The Hurricanes picked up their second straight win and improved their record to 2-1-1 this fall while Pensacola Christian dropped to 0-4.   

GSW outshot the Eagles, 19-10, in the match, with an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. GSW held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks and fouls were even at 15-15. GSW keeper Francesco Bazzano made two saves, while his counterpart, Brent Konieczynski, stopped six.
