Second Half Scores Put Away Hurricanes

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer surrendered a pair of second half goals en route to a 3-0 loss to Spring Hill College Wednesday evening at Hurricane Field.

GSW dropped its third consecutive match and fell to 2-4-1 overall while Spring Hill has won five of six matches to open its season.

Eldi Seiti put the Badgers on the board in the 23rd minute when he beat a pair of Hurricane defenders to the right post to tap in a service from Tilman Schober, who bounced across a free kick from inside the left corner.

The margin remained one goal until the 60th minute when Diogo Sousa connected on a third Spring Hill shot during an offensive barrage that saw two attempts carom off GSW's goalkeeper, Matthew Sherry.

Schober dribbled through the GSW defense in the 67th minute and squirted a pass through to George Brown for an easy tap in and the final goal of the evening.

Matheus Alves registered two shots on goal to lead the GSW offense. Sherry finished with six saves.

Spring Hill held a 12-3 shots on goal advantage and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. Fouls were close to even, with the Hurricanes committing one more infraction, 5-4.
