Hurricanes Falter in Second Half at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team surrendered a pair of second half goals to Francis Marion University in a 2-0 Peach Belt Conference loss at Hartzler Field on Saturday evening.

GSW's record dips to 3-7-2 overall this season and 0-3-1 in Peach Belt play, while Francis Marion won for the fifth time in its last six matches to improve to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the PBC. Second-half play has proved to be the difference in the Hurricanes seven losses this fall as opponents have outscored GSW 11-2 over the final 45 minutes of regulation.

Francis Marion broke open a scoreless match in the 51st minute and added the insurance goal off a successful penalty kick at the end of the 63rd minute. 

FMU finished with a 19-4 advantage in shots and a lopsided 10-1 edge in corner kicks. The Patriots were whistled for five more fouls, 18-13. GSW goalkeeper Francesco Bazzano successfully denied eight shots.
