Hurricanes Place Four on 2018 PBC All-Academic Team

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team placed four players on the 2018 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team announced by the league Thursday.

The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have 1) participated in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

The Hurricanes had two athletes make the All-Academic team for a third time in senior Chris Avery (3.390 Communication & Media Arts) and senior Julian Rugel (3.543 Exercise Science). Junior Manuel Duran (3.769 Engineering) made his second appearance on the team, while senior Thiago Elias (3.743 Management) received his first nomination after transferring in last season.
