Season Comes to a Close at North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team saw its season come to a close Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 Peach Belt Conference loss against the University of North Georgia at the UNG Soccer Complex.

The Nighthawks won for the second time over their last three matches to improve their overall record to 6-9-1, and their Peach Belt mark to 3-4. GSW suffered its fifth straight loss to fall to 4-11 overall and finished scoreless in Peach Belt play while falling to 0-7. 

UNG scored in the 23rd and 29th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. The Nighthawks started to pour it on midway through the second half when they added three more goals (67', 77', 86') in a 19-minute window.

UNG finished with a 15-5 shots on goal advantage and a 13-1 edge in corner kicks. GSW was whistled for three more fouls, 8-5.

Rafael Faria led GSW with two shots on goal.
